Think of your sailing blog as your personal sailing journal. You can write anything sailing here, whether you found something interesting in the news, or just made news yourself by placing third in a regatta. Here's some tips and guidelines to get your going on the submission process.
- On the right side of your screen you'll see a heading called "Create Something", and underneath this you'll see an entry for "Write a Blog Entry". Click on the Blog Entry link.
- You'll be brought to the editor screen, where you can begin the writing.
- Title: Enter the title of your sailing blog entry.
- Category: Select the category that best describes your entry. Note that you can select multiple categories by holding down the "control" button while clicking with your mouse.
- Body: This is where you type in the your entry.
- Entering Pictures:
- You can add a photo into your post if you'd like. To do this, click on the little picture of a tree at the top of the editing window (next to the options such as bold, italic, underline, etc.)
- A screen should pop up allowing you to upload your image. Make sure your pop-up blocker allows pop-ups from SailingSmarter.com.
- The screen will look like this:

- To get started, you'll need to click on the icon on the top right of the window, hightlighted in red in the above picture.
- When you click on this, another window will open up and you can select the image that you want to insert. Again, Make sure pop-ups are allowed.

- Click on the "Brows" button and select the file which you would like to upload from your local hard drive. Once selected, Click on "Upload File" button.

- You'll then see your image appear in the middle of hte screen (the blue sail above) and your file information will appear at the top of the screen (highlighted in green). To add your picture, just click on the "add" text in the file information line.
- Note that if you've uploaded pictures before, they will appear in this window and you can insert them into another entry if you'd like.
- On a side note, If you are viewing your profile and click on the tab for "personal files", you will see a list of these attached images. Note that these are not entered into the site wide gallery.
- Once you click "add", the second pop-up will close. You can select your image alignment (we recommend "left" or "right" if you'd like the text wrapped around the picture). You can play around with these settings.
- Then click on "Insert", and the image will appear at the position of your curser in your blog editting window.
- Then you can continue typing away at your blog.
- Once you're finished typing, scroll down further on the page and you'll see a "Group" box where you can select the audience for your entry.
- Finally, you can attach a file to your entry if you'd like. You can attach things such as results sheets, or drawings, or a large photo. Anything you want really. To do this, click on the "File Attachments" text. Browse for your file, click attach, and your done.
- To submit your blog, click on submit.
