Why do you like being on the waterfront?

In order to better understand the design of urban waterfronts it is important to understand why people visit the waterfront. What draws you to the water? Do you find that it is peaceful and calming? Are you a sailing or boating enthusiast who cant live without being on the water? Do you like to shop and eat while watching whats going on out on the water? Tell me what you think!

Just looking

Just put me in a place where I can sit and watch the water... that's all I need to be happy.  Of course I'm happier if I'm actually on the water, but there's something about being in sight of the water.  I'm trying to think of a reason for you, but I'm having trouble... maybe there's just too many reasons.  Maybe it's because it's an entirely different world compared to the day to day life of being amongst buildings and people and lots of dirt.  Waterfront brings a place to escape.  Yeah, that sounds good.
