Pre-Chinese Gybe

I was fortunate enough to race in Skandia Cowes Race Week with a close friend, Tim Pennington, at the close of my 2008 summer.  It was my first trip to England and I don’t think I could have had a better time. Cowes consisted of 8 days, 1 3-4 hour race a day.  It felt like a marathon regatta.

Central New York Lightning District

Happy Friday!!

Today SailingSmarter members Bob King, Sarah Costich, and myself will be traveling to Pymatuning Yacht Club to compete in this weekend's Spring Classic Lightning Regatta.  Should be a good time and I'll be sure to write a regatta wrap up when we get back!  Have a great weekend.

The wind and waves began to pick up and grow in size steadily all night. Tim estimated the waves to be four to five feet, which is pretty good size for sailing on a twenty seven foot sailboat. We were all having a great time until the first disaster struck. We had just registered nine point nine miles per hour on the GPS and our whisker pole snapped in half.
